Completed TSS Wells
The Completed TSS Wells dataset contains information regarding wells completed associated with the Department of Water Resources (DWR) Technical Support Services (TSS) program (https://water.ca.gov/Programs/Groundwater-Management/Assistance-and-Engagement). The wells included in this dataset have been completed, a well completion report (WCR) has been submitted through the Online System for Well Completion Reports (OSWCR), and have been registered either through the California Statewide Groundwater Elevation Monitoring (CASGEM) Online System or the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) Portal’s Monitoring Network Module (MNM). In addition, the OSWCR Record ID and CASGEM/MNM Site Codes must be registered in DWR's internal TSS project tracking database.

TSS Wells In 2019, DWR began providing Technical Support Services (TSS) including exploration drilling with geologic and geophysical logging, monitoring well construction, downhole camera surveys, groundwater sampling and analysis, groundwater level monitoring training, and other groundwater related field activities to GSAs at both basin, regional, and statewide groundwater system scales to build the capacity needed to achieve sustainability. Between 2019 and October of 2024, 223 monitoring wells have been constructed at 86 sites. The vast majority of these wells have been equipped with automated water level loggers and telemetry to obtain real-time, continuous groundwater level measurements. Water quality sampling and analyses have been performed at nearly all of the monitoring wells constructed under TSS in addition to 6 other existing monitoring wells. Downhole camera surveys have also been conducted at 19 existing wells to determine otherwise unknown well construction details. This dataset will be updated on a monthly basis. The complete DWR Groundwater Levels dataset that this layer of TSS wells is a subset of is available at https://data.cnra.ca.gov/dataset/periodic-groundwater-level-measurements. This service is under development as part of of ongoing enhancements to the SGMA Data Viewer and CalGW Live. Once the format is finalized, the service will be hosted at https://gis.water.ca.gov/arcgis/rest/services/. | 12/13/24 |
