Greater Sage-grouse Range - NE CA - 2005 [ds96]

This dataset was developed to map changes in greater sage-grouse range over time in northeastern California. Records in this dataset represent current and historic range. Current and historic range were mapped and reported on by Frank Hall in Determining Changes in Abundance of Sage-Grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) in California, August 1995. The ranges were hand drawn on 1:250,000 scale USGS maps and then digitized in ArcInfo. For a larger range mapping project and range continuity, input from DFG and BLM wildlife biologists in northern California, southern Oregon, and western Nevada was collected using the same methods; hand drawn ranges on 1:250,000 scale USGS maps and then digitized in ArcInfo. In 2005, Hall modified the current range that is represented in this dataset. Number of records: There are 9 polygons representing current or historic range. Geographic extent of records: Extent includes Siskiyou, Modoc, Lassen, Sierra, Plumas, and Shasta Counties in California.
