<p>This resource contains data summarizing performance measures that are used to inform the Waterboard's annual Performance Report.  The inspection data summarized in this resource is tracked in the Waterboard's CIWQS (California Integrated Water Quality System) database.</p>

Surface Water - Water Quality Regulated Facility Information

System generated identifier of record representing the site that was inspected.

Inspected Facility ID

Facility Name

Organization responsible for the inspected site.

Agency Name

This field categorizes the site that was inspected according to the primary activity of that site. Place types are further categorized into more descriptive categories.

Place Type

This field displays the lowest level of categorization that describes the primary activity at the site inspected.

Place Subtype

Describes the type of organization. The options are:
City Agency - An organization that is part of a city’s government.
Community Organization - A non-governmental organization, including, but not limited to Home-owners associations.
County Agency - An organization that is part of a county’s government.  This classification includes but is not limited to County Service Areas (CSA).
Federal Agency - An organization that is part of the federal government.
Government Agency Combination - An organization that is a collaboration of different public groups.  This classification includes, but is not limited to joint powers agency
Private-Individual - This classification describes people that are acting as organizations.  For example, this is appropriate when a person owns a construction site that requires a general storm water permit.
Privately-Owned Business - An organization that is not part of a government and not an individual.  This classification includes, but is not limited to companies such as Shell, Pacific Gas & Electric, or mutual water companies.
Special District - This is a type of organization defined by regulation and includes, but is not limited to municipal water districts, drainage districts, school districts, and water districts that serve county areas.  “County” may be in the organization’s name but it is not part of the county government.
State Agency - An organization that is part of state government.
Water Board - Either the State Water Resource Control Board or one of the Regional Water Quality Control Boards.

Street number, street direction, and street type of inspected site.

Place Address

City within which inspected site is located.

Place City

Zip code to which inspected site is associated.

Place Zip

County within which inspected site is located.

Place County

Latitude used to map the site, expressed in degrees.

Place Latitude

Longitude used to map the site, expressed in degrees.

Place Longitude

Identification number associated with a discharge.

Identification number associated to a regulatory measure, which is an action taken by the Water Board or staff, that the inspction is checking d

Regulatory Measure ID

The type of regulatory measure (such as permit, order, certification, enrollment under a general order) that the inspection is assessing compliance with.

Regulatory Measure Type

System generated identifier representing a site visit.

Inspection ID

A categorization of inspections that indicates what the inspector did at the site (responded to a complaint, took samples, etc.)


Inspection Type

Date that the site visit started. Most inspections are no more than a day, but they can be multiple days.

Inspection Date Actual Start

The Water Boards has divided its workload into regulatory programs that are distinguishable by the type of discharge. The “program” field is the most discrete division.
