SSI in Pediatric Patients, 2017

This table shows the incidence of surgical site infections (SSI) reported by California general acute care hospitals for 28 operative procedures performed on pediatric patients (procedures listed in the Data Dictionary). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) does not yet have robust pediatric SSI risk adjustment models for many of the procedures, therefore California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is reporting only numbers of SSI and numbers of procedures performed. All procedure and infection data for surgical procedures performed between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2017, were downloaded from NHSN in 2018. For a detailed explanation, please see the Technical Notes. Each hospital's reported procedure and infection counts are displayed.
