Truckee River Continuous (15 minute) Water Quality Monitoring: collected by the North Central Region Office, California Department of Water Resources, 1998-2025

The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) Water Quality Evaluation Section (WQES) provides technical expertise and program support for regulatory compliance, water operations, emergency response, and environmental restoration. The dataset details information at 15-minute intervals from 4 monitoring stations, using Xylem’s Yellow Spring's Instrument's (YSI) EXO2 and 6600 multiparameter sondes to document individual water quality measurements of multiple parameters. The dataset also details information at 15-minute intervals from 8 monitoring stations, using ONSET HOBO Water Temperature Pro V2 Data Loggers to document individual water quality measurements of water temperature. The data set consists of water quality data collected to fulfill a DWR agreement to implement and manage a Water Quality Monitoring Plan (WQMP) for the Truckee River Watershed between 1998 and 2025. The stations included in this data package are: Truckee River at Bridge 8 (TRB8), Truckee River above TTSA (TRTT), Little Truckee River Above Boca (LAB), Truckee River at Farad (FAR), Truckee River Above Donner Creek (TrkAbvDnc), Donner Creek Above Truckee River (DncAbvTrk), Truckee River Below Donner Creek (TrkBlwDnc), Truckee River Above Prosser Creek (TrkAbvPr), Prosser Creek Above Truckee River (PrAbvTrk), Truckee River Below Prosser Creek (TrkBlwPr), Truckee River Above Little Truckee River (TrkAbvLtk), Little Truckee River Above Truckee River (LtkAbvTrk). Parameters measured at TRB8, TRTT, LAB and FAR include water temperature, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, pH and specific conductance at 25 C. Only water temperature was collected at the other stations. (Note: Sondes were removed from TRB8, TRTT, LAB and FAR on 10/09/2024 and replaced with ONSET HOBO data loggers that only measure water temperature) The purpose of the project was to identify any water management impacts to Truckee River water quality from the implementation of the Truckee River Operating Agreement (TROA), prior to the tributary flowing into Nevada.
