Water Rights Demand Analysis Methodology Datasets

Report Year. The reporting period starts in January 1 and ends on December 31 for the years before January 1, 2021. For the 2021 report, the period is from January 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021. For the 2022 and subsequent, the reporting period follows the water year starting on October 1 and ends on September 30 the following year.

The month number of the reporting year. i.e. 1=January, 2=February.. Etc. 

The amount of water used in acre feet for the diversion type, year and month.

The diversion type during the report year and month. Types of diversions are: Combined (Direct + Storage) (Combined Amount Directly diverted and stored, applies to Claimed water rights and all other reporting years before 2015), DIRECT (Amount directly diverted), STORAGE (Amount diverted or collected to storage), USE (Amount Used). Amount Directly Diverted: Water that is directly diverted (e.g.directly pumped from a stream and applied to land). Amount Diverted or Collected to Storage: Water that is diverted/collected to on-stream or off-stream storage/ reservoir. Amount Used: Represents the total amount of water beneficially used for the month. (It should include the value of water reported ad directly diverted amd the amount diverted or collected to storage, or the total value of both, if appropriate.

Application number is a unique water right number that identifies the water right record. Application number starts with a letter followed by minimum of six numeric characters with option for additional alpha-numeric characters. 
First letter indicates the type of water right.
