Water Rights Demand Analysis Methodology Datasets

Report Year. The reporting period starts in January 1 and ends on December 31 for the years before January 1, 2021. For the 2021 report, the period is from January 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021. For the 2022 and subsequent, the reporting period follows the water year starting on October 1 and ends on September 30 the following year.

The month number of the reporting year. i.e. 1=January, 2=February.. Etc. 

The amount of water used in acre feet for the diversion type, year and month.

The diversion type during the report year and month. Types of diversions are: Combined (Direct + Storage) (Combined Amount Directly diverted and stored, applies to Claimed water rights and all other reporting years before 2015), DIRECT (Amount directly diverted), STORAGE (Amount diverted or collected to storage), USE (Amount Used). Amount Directly Diverted: Water that is directly diverted (e.g.directly pumped from a stream and applied to land). Amount Diverted or Collected to Storage: Water that is diverted/collected to on-stream or off-stream storage/ reservoir. Amount Used: Represents the total amount of water beneficially used for the month. (It should include the value of water reported ad directly diverted amd the amount diverted or collected to storage, or the total value of both, if appropriate.

Application number is a unique water right number that identifies the water right record. Application number starts with a letter followed by minimum of six numeric characters with option for additional alpha-numeric characters. 
First letter indicates the type of water right.

Date that the Division’s Permitting section determines the water right ID meets all acceptance criteria and begins processing the application 

Application Primary Owner identifies the main party listed on the water right record. They are typically responsible for the water right and are subject to providing the annual water use reports and paying the annual water use fees. 

Date the application is physically received by the Division. Identical to “Receipt Date” field. 

Certification number assigned to registrations at issuance. 

The rate at which the water was diverted for immediate use.

The maximum annual amount of water requested for diversion in any given year.

Face value amount is given in either acre-feet per year or cubic-feet per second.

Latitude for the point of diversion, in decimal degrees (North American Datum 1983).

License number assigned to new licenses at issuance. 

Longitude for the point of diversion, in decimal degrees (North American Datum 1983).

The maximum annual amount of water requested for direct diversion in any given year converted into acre-feet.

The maximum direct diversion rate requested upon filing an application.

The unit of measurment for direct diversion.

The maximum annual amount of water requested to be placed into storage in any given year.

The maximum annual amount of water requested for diversion in any given year from each inidivual water source listed in the water right.

Identification number given upon issuance of a water right Permit; also known as the permit number.

Unique, system generated ID for each point of diversion plotted in the eWRIMS GIS database. Points of Diversion relate to a single point on a map where a water diversion from a surface water source occurs.

The number sequence of each unique POD within a single water right, typically beginning with 01.

Indicates whether the diversion is active or inactive.

Indicates whether the water is diverted and used immediately, diverted and stored, or both.

Primary Owner Entity Type identifies the type of entity the primary owner party is listed. Currently there are 12 different types of entity that identifies the party name.

Date used by the Division to establish priority for water allocation during dry years and/or water shortages. Earlier dates indicate “seniority” when determining curtailment of specific watersheds.

Applies only to Statements of Water Diversion and Use. Checkboxes used to identify diversion sub type(s). Selected subtypes viewable from user interface.

Maximum amount of water to be used in any given year by direct diversion converted into acre-feet.

Maximum amount of water to be used from storage in any given year.

Water right status identifies the current status of the water right type. There are multiple water right statuses for each water right type.

Water right type indicates the type of water record it is. Currently there are 18 different types of water right types to identify the water record.

Auto-generated database ID in numeric sequence; not viewable from user interface and not used in day-to-day Water Rights business operations

Applies only to Statements of Water Diversion and Use. The year diversion first began, to the best of the submitters knowledge.
